Belfeast took place in Belfast, this weekend – a three day food and drink festival based in and around the Cathedral Quarter. A full programme of events showcasing local restaurants, cafes and bars including an artisan food market, street food village, foodie tours and talks.
On Saturday afternoon, we popped along to the street food village stationed in Writer’s Square, just across from the historic St. Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast City Centre. While there was an array of local produce to sample, we naturally gravitated towards the wood-fired pizza on offer from Pizza Box.
Pizza Box is the first horsebox-converted, mobile wood-fired pizzeria in Ireland. Based in Newtownabbey, just outside Belfast, the box regularly travels around the country, serving up pizza for events and private parties.
Wood-fired pizza is our favourite so with high hopes, we opted for a slice of the salami and pesto. The slice itself was super tasty – cooked to order and to perfection. We added some chilli flakes for a little more heat. A thin slice, just big enough to fold, with a little bit of grease. Not super cheesy, which is a big plus for us, as it allowed the other flavours to shine.
The only minor negative is that at £3 per slice, we would’ve expected something a little more substantial. A fine example of quality over quantity, though; when the only complaint is ‘I WANT MORE’, then Pizza Box are doing something right.
…and how cool does that horsebox look?!
Don’t forget to follow Pizza Box on Twitter and Facebook to find out where they’ll be next!

Hi Norma,
You’d need to contact Pizza Box directly to see if they can help – this is just a review of their pizza from 2018.
I’m not actually sure if they’re still operational as their Facebook page appears to be gone. You could try their twitter although that doesn’t seem to have been updated in years either…

Sorry we can’t help more but good luck and congrats on the Wedding!
