Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria is an LA based-chain who are making something we thought only existed in our dreams. They officially held the Guinness World Record for the largest pizza commercially available from 2010 to 2018 (recently surpassed by Moontower Pizza in Burleson, Texas).
Big Mamas’s & Papa’s make a behemoth known as the Giant Sicilian, it’s a square pizza which measures in at 54″ x 54″ – that’s 1.4 square metres of pizza!
Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria launched in 1985 by two Armenian brothers, Arro and Allan Agakhamian. After working jobs in Domino’s, they decided to go into business themselves. Big Mama’s & Papa’s offers a wide range of pizzas, sandwiches, pastas and over a dozen beers on tap but it’s the Giant Sicilian that’s really made them famous, worldwide. Rightly so, because… LOOK AT IT.
You can attempt the Giant Sicilian as a food challenge – a team of eight can try to polish it off within two hours. If you manage to do so, there’s a cash prize and your pizza is free. Many have tried, but few have managed to complete the challenge. Not surprising because… LOOK AT IT. AGAIN.
Our favourite thing about the Giant Sicilian, aside from the fact it’s the world’s largest commercially available pizza, is that YOU CAN ORDER IT FOR DELIVERY. It comes in a giant box and they’ve even got their own special delivery vehicle which allows them to transport the pizza on a roof rack. Can you imagine this thing arriving at your door?
