North Coast Brewing Co‘s most famous beer is Old Rasputin, one of the best imperial stouts you’ll find anywhere but there’s more to this brewery than epic beers…
Did you know about North Coast Brewing’s philanthropic focus on marine mammal conservation? They work with a number of organisations to advance sustainable initiatives and give back to the world.
Seeing as it’s Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d tell you about Le Merle – a beer brewed by North Coast Brewing Co, named in honour of co-founder, Mark Ruedrich’s wife, Merle. See? Beer can be romantic!

Le Merle is a Belgian-style Saison, subtly sophisticated (naturally!) and the perfect accompaniment to a mushroom-packed veggie pizza. Sounds much better to us than clichéd champagne this Valentine’s Day.
Inspired by the rich brewing traditions of Belgium’s Flanders region, Le Merle is pale in colour. The abundant hops and Belgian yeast strain also contribute exotic aromas of tropical fruit, making it perfect to pair with spicy dishes – and pizza, obviously.
Cheers to Merle and North Coast Brewing Co – and Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! ❤️
