Anspach & Hobday, independent craft brewers based in Bermondsey, London, are running a rather unique festive challenge! It’s a nationwide poetry competition where the lucky winner will have their poem on the bottle of their seasonal Christmas beer, The Pfeffernüsse Saison, and win an entire case of the beer, too.
The beer itself is inspired by the traditional German Christmas ‘peppernut’ biscuit, hence the name. It’s an amber saison brewed with candied sugar and spiced with ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and black pepper. It’s basically Christmas in a glass!
The poems should reflect that, evoking the spirit of Christmas and singing the praises of The Pfeffernüsse Saison. If you’d like to enter, pen your prose, ensuring it’s no longer than 450 characters and submit to [email protected] by midnight on the 3rd of November.
A shortlist of three will be chosen by the team at Anspach & Hobday, after which shareholders will vote on which they think is the best, with the winner being announced on 6th November.
As well as having their poem on the bottle and winning a case of the beer, the winning poem will also be read out at the annual Anspach & Hobday Christmas carols event on December 6th.
