O’Hara’s Brewery are one of the pioneers of Irish craft beer – and they’ve just announced the release of a barrel-aged version of one of our favourite stouts, Leann Folláin. Translating as ‘Wholesome Ale’, the regular Leann Folláin is a brilliant example of a full-bodied Irish stout, with biiiig hints of coffee and chocolate.
The 8th edition of the award-winning Barrel Aged Series: Leann Folláin has been aged for three months in first fill American bourbon oak barrels supplied by The Dublin Liberties Irish Whiskey Distillery, based in the heart of Dublin 8.
“Some people might think it risky to mess around with Leann Folláin which is such a good beer in its own right but my philosophy is that while you can never be 100% certain what the barrel ageing process will do to a beer, if you put a great beer into the barrel it increases your chances of an exceptional beer coming out of the barrel!” – Seamus O’Hara, CEO & Founder
O’Hara’s have told us that it’s the perfect dessert beer, weighing in at 8.1% with strong dark chocolate notes, vanilla, dark fruits and oak from the barrels. Now available from select independent off-licences in a 75cl cork and cage bottle, RRP €12.99, we can’t wait to get our hands on this one!
