Goose Island Beer Company have announced their first collaboration of the year, kicking off 2020 with a Kveik IPA brewed with their friends at London-based, Signature Brew.
Earth Kveik IPA weighs in at 6.7% ABV; an intensely fruity pale ale brewed with five different hops and fermented on a Norwegian farmhouse ale yeast. Tasting notes include orange, cherry, and strawberry. Sounds good to us
“We are huge fans of Signature Brew here at the Brewpub and jumped at the chance to brew a beer with them. We both love hop driven beers but wanted to put a twist on it to dial up the flavours. The Kveik yeast we brewed with has added an extra fruity element that harmonizes beautifully with the hops.”
– Andrew Walton (Head Brewer, Goose Island)
Signature Brew are more well known for their musical collaborations, with artists such as Mastodon, IDLES and Frank Turner but they’re excited about this collaboration with the Goose Island Brewpub as it’s the first time they’ve brewed with Kveik yeast.
In case you’re wondering – Kveik yeast is mostly commonly used in Norwegian farmhouse ales. It’s a generational yeast centered around small farming communities in Norway, allowing it to take on unique characteristics compared to traditional Europeans strains.
